Rachel Ward

Rachel WardRachel won the Australian Critics Circle Award for both her short films The Big House in 2001 and Martha’s New Coat in 2003. Both films were nominated for all major Australian awards. All three of her shorts were sold commercially and screened in many international festivals. (Sundance, Clermont-Ferrand)
Rachel has shown a natural progression in scale, moving effortlessly from two 25 min shorts, Blindman’s Bluff and The Big House, to Martha’s New Coat, (50 mins) 2006. Rachel directed an episode of Channel 9’s Two Twisted starring Greta Scacchi.

In her former life as an actress, Rachel is also the recipient of several international drama awards and nominations including two Golden Globe nominations. She has starred in many international films, Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid, Against All Odds, The Good Wife and How To Get Ahead in Advertising but is probably most well known for her portrayal of Meggie Cleary in one of the most successful mini-series ever, The Thorn Birds.

Rachel starred in Rainshadow produced by Southern Star entertainment for ABC TV.
